Since its founding in 1921 as the first professional school of the University of Rochester, the Eastman School of Music has continued to realize its mission “for the enrichment of community life.” Today, Eastman is a community of exceptional artists, performers, composers, and scholars who prepare talented students to make a difference in the world with their music. In honor of its 100th year, Eastman presented the Centennial Award to 100 individuals who exemplify the school’s mission and legacy through their artistry, scholarship, leadership, community engagement, and philanthropy.
